Il paradosso della neutralità
(The Paradox of Neutrality)
Patrick Miller
SUMMARY
Neutrality is the result of a permanent psychic work of the psychoanalyst concerning not only his thought processes and their contents (particularly his judgement function) but also the implication in the analysis of his intimate ego, especially the body ego (i.e. all the aspects of the counter-transference). Neutrality is one of the aspects of the specificity of psychic work that the analytic method puts into action in the analysis. It is located in the interface of epistemology and ethics. I propose considering the idea of the work of neutrality, rather than that of a state of neutrality, and to think of it in a dynamic relation to the "triad" of floating attention, abstinence and free association
